Found a card in my birthday present gift bag...

...and it isn't addressed to me!

I opened it without realising and it is a sweet Christmas card thanking the person who gave me the gift for something quite significant.

The person who gave me the gift is a good friend, but I don't want to embarrass her!

I find it quite funny that she's re-gifted the bag I do this all the time too.

What should I do? Feel quite bad just throwing the card away.

as it is just a bag, I think I would give her the card. It's not like pointing out that you know the present itself was re-gifted - that would be embarrassing.

Give it to her and explain where you found it. Not fair to the person who wrote the sweet card if you don't. Your friend may have spent 7 months wondering why that person never thanked her.

She may be embarrassed but it's possible she just recycled the gift bag and not the gift? You could always pretend that's what you think, anyway

Well, sorry to drip-feed, but it's a card that's thanking her husband, from a woman, and I'm stereotyping but I don't think men are usually that arsed about cards.

I'd feel a bit silly about giving my friend the card to pass on to her husband

My bil sent my DH a present for his birthday. It looked really familiar. It was the present I sent my bil for xmas ...

My BIL and SIL gave me some leather gloves from Next one Christmas. They had a gift card inside with the names of unknown (to us) people. Presume SIL had bought the gloves cheap at some discount store. I gave the card to her with a smile! The gloves were quite nice - usually their cheapskate presents aren't!

I'd throw it away. Saves any hassle.
