Are kids safe in hot car?

I am supposed to be going to visit a friend tomorrow an hour away.

I have to go at 11 and come back at 2.

MY kids are 3 and 11 months and the car has no air con. The forecast is saying 27 degrees. Do you think I should cancel or am I being silly?

I really want to go and haven't seen this friend for ages due to conflicting schedules but don't want to risk them being miserable.

We drove through France for eight hours in 40' heat with no ac with 1yo DTs. It wasn't the greatest journey but for an hour you'll be fine, just open the windows?

gamerchick · 16/07/2014 21:45

Just keep the windows open and don't leave them in the car while it's parked.

They'll be fine, just open the windows an inch or two at the top and the air will circulate when you are moving, give them a drink of water before you leave as well.

Driving is fine, you can put the fan on cool still surely, and crack the windows when you're not on the highway.

Obviously no one should leave their DC in the car during summer while you run errands.

Just open the front windows, I'd leave the back ones closed so there's no way anything can fly in or out!

I just open the windows, including the back. Not all the way but a fair bit. Am I not meant to?

roadtripper · 16/07/2014 21:54

Thanks. I was overthinking it!
