Would needing to get an instrument for your child be off putting for them to learn. I think hire purchase is an excellent option because if your child changes their mind, the hire contract can end immediately give or take a week or so.

It would. Ds was loaned one free of charge for a term to start with. Then you had to sort your own out if you decided to continue. Round here you can hire one by the term for not too much money.
