Did you know that the some councils can make up to £58,000 per year from parents taking their children out of school without consent? HmmI was charged £60 to take my daughter outside of school to see her aunt for her 80th birthday Shock. Does anybody else find this as frustrating as I do?! Confused

YES!!! I can understand giving the classwork as home work to the child so they don't actually miss anything. years ago my niece was asked to stay at school til 4 for a week after 3 days off so the teacher could go over everything she missed with her. Those are for the Childs benefit, making money isn't.

So you think the teacher should do extra work so your child can have a day off in term time? how ridiculous.

Teachers don't leave til 4.30, I work in a school.
She was happy to help my niece and when she was settled got on with her own stuff. Teachers are there for children. Its what they are trained for, what they are payed for and (hopefully) what they like doing.
And it was for her grandmothers funeral.
