a thread for those who have had their lives ruined by the charms of one Mr Benedict Cumberbatch. Come and share with those who really understand what it's like to live with this burden.

Some classics to get us in the mood.

Lovely article.
Be very interesting to see how many tickets sell today

RiverTam · 01/08/2014 10:12

3000 memberships taken out in the last few months! I know it's a whopper of a theatre and a long run but crikey, I'm glad I've forked out. Theatre-going friend who is going with me (amongst others, astonishing how popular I've become Grin) said that, I think, King Lear (David Tennant?) sold out before the tickets went on general sale!!

Sudename · 01/08/2014 10:24

Shite think I'll purchase a membership for Monday

HRHsherlockssextoy · 01/08/2014 10:51

I'm 1000 in the queue, wondering whether better to ring

RiverTam · 01/08/2014 11:32

I'm aiming to triangulate my purchase, involving at least 3 colleagues in the office, and possibly another couple elsewhere, though as I'm the one with the card I'm not really sure it's going to work Grin. And we've just moved to a new office and the internet seems a bit slow .

the thing about doing it online is that you have to choose a specific performance, whereas I don't actually care when we go, any night is fine with us. So I'm thinking phoning is better?

From what I have read I think you're all pretty certain to get tickets. It is a big theatre and a fairly long run, plus they are putting in measures to stop people buying tickets for multiple performances.

They're also putting 100 tickets on the door every day if anyone fancies queuing! Just don't try for the start or end of the run!

FrankelandFilly · 01/08/2014 11:58

This page has more information. Basically you are restricted to a maximum of 6 tickets across the whole run. The lead booker's name will be printed on all tickets and they have to be present (with ID) for the performance.

The run is over 3 months long with 7 performances per week plus the theatre holds over 1,100 people so that's a huge number of tickets.

RiverTam · 01/08/2014 12:02

yes, they're being very hot on ticket touts, which is good. I didn't think you could get tickets for multiple performances, just that each member could buy 6, and that you'll be lucky if you want to swap performance at a later date.

Oooh, it's so exciting, I feel like a teenager trying to get Duran Duran tickets or summat. I still think I'll get tickets to The Crucible as well, oh and the cheap tickets for MF in RIII go on sale today.
