Thank you in person & card?

Hi all,

I just wanted to ask a quick question. I have just got engaged and we have recieved a few presents from friends and family. A few came via other relatives and so we will obviously send a thank you card for those gifts. I was just wondering if it is customary to send a card to those people we were able to thank in person when they gave us the gift?

I am happy to do so, i just don't want to seem over the top?

I think as long as you say thank you it doesn't matter how but Bearing mind I've just been called rude and grabby for saying that on another thread

Thanks for your reply.

It's only since joining Mumsnet that i've realised how deeply people feel about this kind of thing. It's never occurred to me to expect a thank you card after I've bought a birthday present for instance, though I did recieve one for a new baby present I gave.

Now very frightened of getting it wrong!

Well, I'm old, but I think that it's nice to give a thank you card for people who have gone to the trouble of giving you a gift. Smile

Yes I would send a thank you card.
