make it more and more watery so it is just water he has? Distract him with something else?

I would cut the juice out completely, but start by watering it down.

Also I would try and pre-empt the thirsty ness, so he doesn't get a chance to ask for juice. Maybe have a beaker or bottle of water around for him, one that doesn't spill.

I know that everyone says that kids don't need juice or should NOT drink juice....but my very healthy teens (never over weight either!) had all that they wanted when they were little. I used frozen juice and diluted it by one extra container of water. ONLY 100% juice.

Maybe you can figure out if your toddler is hungry or thirsty? Or drinking for comfort? What about fresh fruit instead? Or water? I used to 'make' orange slice 'butterflies and caterpillars' by peeling the orange and then not disconnecting two slices but inverting them so they were back to back..they really look like butterflies! the last slice left is a lonely caterpillar. I also bought an apple slicer that slices and cores an apple in one push. They STILL like apples that way!

Enjoy your time now, soon they are off in the car eating trash food.
