Ds just got involved in nasty fight

Not sure exactly what happened, ds came home with bloodied mouth ( he has a brace). The boy involved was year above, threw the first punch, my ds ended up on floor, one of the primary school mums broke it up. Ds did punch back, I'm not sure if in defence or temper, or both.
I'm worried about repercussions, he doesn't even know the boys name. Would you speak to the school?

12, year 8. On the way home from school.

I would want the school to be aware that there was an incident.
How does your son feel about it? Does he feel fearful it could recur or that it was just a freaky one-off event? How did the violence get started?

DS is 14 & has had some run ins like what you describe.
Both times we ended up involving the police but I don't think it's always best or necessary.

Thanks for reply. I've contacted his form tutor just to let her know. Then if it happens again there will be a record of it. Hopefully over Easter it will all be forgotten, and he will learn to avoid the boy.
