Advice needed S.E. England Schools

Having failed to be offered a place at Caterham School (very local and we realise now, too academic) can anyone recommend a good school, preferably non-selective, offering good sports and pastoral care in the south east. Considering weekly boarding to do away with the homework blues and may prove to be a better environment. Also, does anyone have an opinion on whether the following sound suitable; Gordon's School, RAA, Worth, Royal Russell, The Cedars, Sackville, Sutton Valence. Probably too late for 2014 but really need help with such a huge decision, thanks.

Y7 for 2014. I know it's probably too late and looks like we will have to fall back onto plan b for now and get him to an independent next year. We are now coming to the conclusion that the most suitable schools are not going to be that convenient, so weekly boarding may be an option. Dc is an average student but crazy on sport so that's high on the priority list. Will check out some of your recommendation. Tnx

Alternatively you could look for a year 7 place in a prep school (there are at least 3 relatively local to you which go up to 13+) while you reconsider your options for 13+ entry. I fear chances of you getting a state boarding place for this Sept at this stage are quite low.

Going to see Worth this weekend and Bedes in March. Anyone have an opinion on Ardingly and Worth?
