Tempting as it may be to reply (and I'll try to come up with one) it's always best not to, the same as for random texts. They're looking for a live one (lots of defunct email addresses and mobile phone numbers out there, I have at leats two of each) so you can go onto their list.

MissBattleaxe · 16/02/2014 11:20

Yep, ignore. They want contact. It's likely to be automated anyway. Don't reply.

Ignore, ignore, ignore

Reply Hi Oga, how's Nigeria?

I did that twice and was correct. Grin

I spend a lot of time on soi 3 in Bangkok and know a lot of Nigerians.

Meglet · 16/02/2014 11:29

ignore! If they know the account is live then you'll get more spam.

DebbieOfMaddox · 16/02/2014 11:31

Mmm, replying and getting your email harvested and sold on on lists of live email addresses is definitely a good idea. No downsides there... (OK, if you want to set up a special email account just for this and then close it down, knock yourself out). No point replying on FB because he'll probably already have been banned by now.

PuppyMonkey · 16/02/2014 11:32

Grin it is a good message though. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think you should reply, but if you did : "fuck off, you twat" would be as good as anything.

insancerre · 16/02/2014 11:52

I think you are right, I realy shouldn't reply- I wouldn't with my email address anyway, was considering using a new email and not my normal one
my normal email inbox is full of messages telling me i'm due a tax refund, or my paypal has been hacked or my ups package wasn't delivered and i have to pay a release fee
I might just block him after i've told him to 'fuck off'

Don't reply.

Just sign up the email for every bit of scam and porn you can find.

They then have to wade through all that, looking for people who might genuinely reply.

I always do that. It may do no good, who knows, but it amuses me.

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 16/02/2014 11:55

spam and porn, that should read.

insancerre · 16/02/2014 11:57

good idea, ISeeYouShiver

I'd say that you might want to consider upping your privacy settings too.

insancerre · 16/02/2014 12:19

I do have high levels of security on facebook, thanks RedToothBrush

Don't reply, I think if you do you'll get inundated with spam from him (and others)

insancerre · 16/02/2014 12:26

I've blocked him and reported it to facebook
