Simon Cowell and his girlfriend have given their newborn son a - to my mind - nice, normal name.

It is Eric. The same name as Simon's father. Very a tad old fashioned to my ears but it pleases me more than it should that it is not along the lines of Red Buttercup Dog Cowell.

Congratulations to them both.

It's not a name I would choose but it is a recognised name and like you say not calling him 'shovel stripe glitterbomb cowel'

Oh no we are picking up our Poo Shi puppy in a couple of weeks and dd has named him Eric

It's not a name I'd choose for a baby (or a dog come to that) but it's nice that it's not a "celebrity" name.

I like Eric, thank goodness for a normal celeb baby name.

I can see baby eric in his jeans pulled up to his armpits just like his daddy !!!!

I teach pregnancy yoga and have had a lady who named her baby Eric. Also know of one other! I think its very retro!

It's hipster. I love the name Eric.
