ColinFirthsGirth, Jennifer Lawrence plays the lead in the Hunger Games films and she was the Young Raven/Mystique in the Baby X Men X-Men First Class film. She seems to be relatively cool (having tripped going UP the stairs to collect her Oscar), mostly for refusing to starve herself thin. She's thinner than I am, but definitely not Twiggy.

Anyway. Twit, that's how it starts. For me, it was about 20 minutes into watching "A Scandal In Belgravia" that made me go from "well, he's a bit odd-looking" to "gee, I wonder if they can reverse my tubal from three years ago". Smart phones and my Kindle enable me to perv any time, any place (even the loo). Must remember to either close the tabs on the Kindle or at least open a different one, lest my DC open it up and ask again "Mommy, who's this man I keep seeing on your computer?"

cumberlover that I'm sure would turn his head

We'll have to meet soon

LetUsPrey · 26/02/2014 21:31

I think it's just each to their own BabyMummy29 Grin

Well, I am completely disregarding that stupid stupid drinking quiz and am making up my own.

Who is your favourite television detective? Sherlock
What is your favourite musical instrument? Piano

Your perfect drinking partners are Benedict Cumberbatch and James Rhodes. Enjoy!

NeedsaGreenCard - funny, that was exactly how it happened with me too, part-way through Scandal in Belgravia! I suddenly realised while watching it that I was leaning forwards in my seat, slightly flushed and giggling or gasping ridiculously at Sherlock's every line. I thought 'Hang on a minute... Oh dear. ..' and spent about the next three months glued to YouTube. The rest is history. ..

Twit · 26/02/2014 21:57

I wonder how many of the sheet takes they did, and how many times it fell away completely?

Cumberlover76 · 26/02/2014 22:02

That I would have loved to see Twit

HRH yes!

RiverTam · 26/02/2014 22:04

I completely held out against Sherlock for a long time - to me the only Sherlock was Jeremy Brett in the 1980s Granada series - hated Robert Downey Jr's reincarnation so kept away from this one (and the only other thing I'd seen BC in was Atonement).

But then my eye fell upon this thread, I YouTubed the event in question and that was that, I just had to see more.

Yes, he can look like an alien sometimes. But most of the time he just looks like a damn hottie who can warm my bed any day of the week.

Tonight, maybe, in fact, as it is a bit empty.

Just watched episode 2. Shall I go for episode 3 tonight as well, or spread it out over 2 nights? MN, you decide. I am knackered though, but I always sleep so badly when DH isn't here I thought I might as well stay up as late as possible.

BornToFolk · 26/02/2014 22:09

I love your quiz *LetUsPrey". Succinct, yet accurate.

For me, it was the kiss in S3. I went from "well, he's great at Sherlock but a bit funny looking, I don't really get it" to spending far too much time on YouTube, Tumblr and here of course.

If I'm having a bad day, I just like looking at his face. Then I feel better.

Hmm That's weird, isn't it? Blush

FrankelInFoal · 26/02/2014 22:20

For me about halfway through A Study in Pink I thought to myself "Hmm, he's got a nice voice" and by the end of Series 1 I was hooked on him. I think we formed BCAS just before/during Season 2 and the copious links only fed my obsession.

PeaceEagle · 26/02/2014 22:37

Molly kiss for me too, Born. Which means I have looked obsessively for stuff about BC every single day this year. I don't understand what has happened to me.

LetUsPrey · 26/02/2014 22:42

Similar time to Frankel for me

piratecat · 26/02/2014 23:04

i thought i'd lost the plot fancying him, and thought it was because i am long term single/lonely.

I feel so much better now though, knowing some of you ladies are attached, and still gagging for the Cumber lol.

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 27/02/2014 07:45

What is everybody's top Cumberlord incarnation at the moment? I adore him in Star Trek, he smoulders as Khan. smoulders

Cumberlover76 · 27/02/2014 09:39

It was the Molly kiss that pushed me over the edge. I don't remember being totally obsessed before then although he's always been my type and i think i quite admired him when i first saw him in Sherlock S1. I also remember being jealous when my friend said she worked with him which would have been about 3 years ago. But when i saw the Molly kiss and then the MN thread things just turned silly and the same as PeaceEagle i have also been looking obsessively for BC stuff everyday this year and it is nearly March!

Don't worry Piratecat nothing wrong with you. I'm very happily married but that man, he just does something special doesn't he!

HRH, i know he will love us (if we don't get arrested before meeting him for being half naked, drunken stalkers bandying about talking blow up dolls and other Sherlock sex toys!!)

Lumpy agree with Kahn, very smouleringly sexy.

I also really like seeing him just being him in various interviews ie the BAFTA NY In Conversation and the Applelock talk. He's sooo cute sometimes as well as being amazingly sexy..... (oh what a beautiful place that is.)

BornToFolk · 27/02/2014 11:01

I watched the Applelock Q&A last night. He was lovely in it! So sweet when he was encouraging the young actor and giving advice. He seems to really LOVE what he does - just the right side of earnest, which is very appealing.

I'm all about Sherlock. Khan was hot, obviously but Sherlock is cuter.

RiverTam · 27/02/2014 11:46

got the Applelock lined up for this evening after season 3 finale not that I'm counting down the hours till DD is in bed and I get him all to myself all evening, oh no.

agree with Cumberlover - I think he is just to die for being himself - the voice, the thigh-rubbing, the general all-over loveliness and sexiness.

Character I would go for Sherlock over Khan, though whether that's down to getting more of and knowing more about Sherlock I'm not sure. He certainly has a very smouldering gaze as Khan, I kept expecting the glass between him and Kirk to melt.

Only other thing I've seen him as is Creepy Paul, so definitely not him!

(pirate - happily married here too, DH not quite as on board with Sherlock as with other obsessions (I got a Thorin action figure for Christmas a couple of years back, but then DH is a huge Tolkien fan himself) but I can work on that. Or him.)

Behindthecandelabra · 27/02/2014 12:06

I feel the need to confess.
I'm a forty year old sahm & I spend an inordinate amount of time looking at pictures of BC. Just finished watching Parade's End. DH thought it was dull. I thought it was brilliant. BC was incredible in it.
My "interest" (obsession?) started during Sherlock season 3 I think & I blame the MN threads too. It's weird, it appears out of nowhere, grabs you & doesn't let you go, making you feel like a teenager & all out of sorts. Ridiculous really.

Btw I got BC & fassbender in the drinking quiz. God I would just die.

Cumberlover76 · 27/02/2014 14:38

Having said Khan was sexy previously, i should have added that other than being himself, my favorite character so far has to be Sherlock - i just love the hair and the coat and the intelligence and wit. All over deliciousness. Plus reading some of the Sherlock fanfic has made me look at him in a certain way!

HRHsherlockssextoy · 27/02/2014 15:54

I have spent a v enjoyable day watching some of the last series and the empty hearse.

Trying to work out where they are in Cardiff and watching that kiss again and again.

For my mind he kisses her a bit too long. Tut.

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 27/02/2014 17:43

Ooooooo yes a bit of Sherlolly fanfic gives you a whole new perspective.

I adored the character he played in Parades End, that was a cracking piece of drama.

There is some good Khanfic out there too Cumberlover, if you're into that sort of thing. Grin

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 27/02/2014 18:25

I assume everyone has seen this as posted in the MN newsletter today?

LetUsPrey · 27/02/2014 18:53

This is one of my favourite quotes about BC and is absolutely spot on.

One of my favourite BC roles is Hawking. If you've not seen it, I think the DVD is available. If not, I think it's available in a few parts on YouTube. It's an amazing film.

NeedsAGreenCardForFantasyLand · 27/02/2014 19:24

Cumberlover: I think you get where I got MY nic from. I'm not talking Disney World.

If I had to pick one of his roles to cohabitate with, then it would be Christopher Tietjens. (Because if that's a fat Yorkshireman, then I want to run the local Weight Watchers group there.) Sherlock would only be nice/charming/non-petulant as long as he wants something, unless you are John. Kahn would just as soon squish your head if you look at him funny. Creepy Paul is, well, creepy. Martin maybe. He's got a LOT of issues. I just listened to St. Petersburg on the way home from work today and I just wanted to shag-- hug him after he landed GERTI after the bird strike. Hawking, again lovely role, he was just perfect in it, and those bathtub scenes...but I don't know how I would handle it if my DH came down with a degenerative disease like that. (Hawking's been divorced twice.) I haven't made it all the way through "Amazing Grace" yet. Loved his development (and bare arse) in "To The Ends Of The Earth". Perhaps I'd take Edmund as well as Christopher. (ooh! A sandwich! There's a thought...anything's possible in FantasyLand)

BornToFolk · 27/02/2014 19:57

YES! I forgot I recorded Turning Point! That's my evening sorted then. Grin

holmessweetholmes · 27/02/2014 20:08

Sherlock for me, every time. I know he'd be utterly impossible - I just can't help it ! He's just so delicious even (or particularly) when he is being appallingly rude/insensitive/callous etc. I think some of the attraction is the sheer physicality and extreme moods of the character - he's always either frenetic or languidly slumped, wired with the thrill of the game or stroppy and petulant. Add to that the hair you want to grab, and those tight suits and shirts... .
