Hindhead Music Centre

DD has heard of children's summer music courses at the Hindhead Music Centre, some residential, complete 'with midnight feasts and swimming pool'. There is little information on their website about what the courses actually involve and I'd like some reassurance from other parents that these courses were regarded as a success - or otherwise. How is their pastoral care? If you have had any experience of them I'd be really interested to hear about it?

Wildmum did you find out anything more than the website tells us? I am also interested, but like you a little tentative....what with recent events in the music teaching world......!

Janinlondon, I'm afraid I haven't learnt any more about it. I've decided not to proceed though; mainly because it was quite expensive.

My DD has lessons there on a weekly basis. Its a wonderfully bohemian place. Mrs Hughes Chamberlain is amazing, and quite "firm". They have various teachers who come in.

I am sure they are quite strict about the place during the summer courses, during term time lessons we aren't allowed to wander the grounds as they are concerned about the safety of various ponds.

As far as I know everyone is CRB checked etc.
It really is in the countryside so not as if the children could wander off or meet strangers. It is also not a school.

It depends on what you are looking for.

Thanks both - It was a summer school I was looking at. Pity their website is so awful....

They aren't techie at all and I'd hesitate to guess the age of Mrs Hughes Chamberlain.
