Would you eat smoked mackerel fillets Use by 5/01/14. The fresh kind that come in a vacuum pack? I'm on a diet, had my dinner and I am starving! These are the healthiest closest to plan option! Otoh, a wee bout of food poisoning would guarantee a weight loss! (Joking)

Yes - my family Re getting haddock tomorrow with a use by date of 7/1.

There is nothing that can contaminate the meat if vacuum sealed

was It all okay? I am in a similar situation with Tesco sweet cured smoked mackerel strips. Vacuum packed unopened and kept in the cold drawer of the fridge. 10 days past UBD. Smell test?

I couldn't believe PPs were saying 'yes' to eating 8-years-out-of-date mackerel, till I saw the comment about the date 🤣 Thought 'damn that must be good vacuum packing'...

after A quick smell test I heated the zombie mackerel in foil in the oven till piping it hot and have consumed with pickled beetroot. Currently happy to not have wasted it. Wish me luck.😬
