Just that really. What are your thoughts?

Takes too long to load.

But as it's Tumblr, that might be why.

Also, is it a blog or an advertising venture?

Blogger32 · 16/12/2013 13:06

It's a blog that I hope one day might attract advertising. Thanks for your feedback - not sure how I can remedy the time it takes to load?

Ooh yes I see what you mean re. loading time. It's never done that before. They must be having probs today.

Loading time - really slow
Actually, there are on-line sites that test your site loading speed and give some suggestion what to do.

  1. Set your blog to show excerpts with only 1 thumbnail per post, make sure thumbnails're no bigger then 13-17kbt; no more then 20 post per page.
  2. In individual posts make sure your pictures not really big (in kb), 100kb would be already big, and if you have several, then, each should be small.
  3. If your twitter plug in shows live feed - it slow down the site.
  4. Pop ups and sliding panels slow down the site

As for other things, I like the look but you should work on usability.

Agree that it was slow to load.

I think that your basic problem is that it is - as the name suggests - just another mummyblog. There are so many out there already, with a great following, superb design and contacts to PR companies.

There is nothing on your blog that differentiates from the thousands of similar mummyblogs out there, and the Tumblr design is a bit clunky. (I am not a fan of tumblr tbh).

I also think you have to mix up your posts more, as the first few are all adverts.

Sorry to be so discouraging, but I don't think that there is a lot of money to be made in blogging unless you are willing to put in a lot of time and effort to make your blog different from all the others.

Your load time is nearly 7 seconds. That's about 5 seconds too long. The culprit is actually your Pinterest widget*, which is forcing your page to wait about 4 seconds before fully loading. Either remove it or set the script to load concurrently. Failing that, place the call at the end of your HTML file, so the page displays content while waiting for the script to load.

Yes, there is a lot of advertorial content but it is encouraging that you are already building relationships with companies, such as Northumbrian Water. That bodes well for your future blogging opportunities.

If it was me, the main change worth making would be to limit the number of blog posts on the homepage. It's too much scrolling.
