Do you read/follow the other blogs or post and run?

I'm relatively new to blogging (1 year) and have been happily blogging away without many followers. About 700 pageviews/month but only a handful actually following my blog.

Recently I made it easier to follow via Google+ or Bloglovin' (which I think is great because non-bloggers can use it too). I've amassed the sum of 10 and 8 followers respectively.

Then I joined the Mumsnet bloggers network and thought I'd follow a few that interested me, make some comments, hope to get a few people who follow me back. I think I've had one. Now maybe my blog is deadly boring, but a follow costs nothing. Or maybe I need a better widget for follows (networked blogs, facebook?) Just feeling a bit lonely.

Anyone else? Are you getting feedback from other mumsnet bloggers?

Hi RazaMeTimbers, I have been blogging for just over a month and I have gathered 28 followers - I have no idea how they find me or if that's good or not. I'm using wordpress, so possibly they are finding me via my categories and tags which come up on their wordpress 'reader'. Having said that some of the followers also have blogs, and when I click through - they are totally unrelated to my topic, so I think some of them are just following me in the hope that I will follow them! I'm not sure they've even read my posts ha ha!

I had a look at your blog and I will follow it, but in honesty, I'm not sure I would have time to read your stories Sad which is a shame because the bits I did read were very good! I will make an effort though! Life in France sounds interesting! Maybe the Mumsnet network is more suited to a parenting type following, if that makes sense? Are there any creative writing / expat / travel / literature networks that you could join as well to optimise the following?

Anyway, I'm certainly no expert and have a TON to learn myself, but I didn't want to read and run! Good luck!

I get most of my hits from Social Media.

I don't often follow blogs, but do follow the blogger on Twitter, and if I happen to be online when she tweets her blog, there is a good chance I will read and RT.

thanks indigo and mmecinq

I follow on twitter too and find it much easier. I think the whole follow system on blogs makes it difficult because there's not just one way but several.

Think I'll stop worrying about actual followers anyway, that's not why I set out (but I got sucked into numbers which is stupid really).

thanks again for your replies

I follower bloggers in a variety of places, Feedly, Google+, Twitter and a few in Facebook. It depends on where I am when I discover them. However, although I follow a large number it doesn't mean I always find the time to read the posts they've written. I suspect my Feedly is currenly over 1000 unread posts because I haven't been in for a while.

Keep writing, comment on other people's blogs and people will find you.
