Toddlers doing role plays

I have recently posted in my blog about my son doing play roles and reading books to his animal toys. It was very cute seeing him doing this and I took a few snaps to remember the occasion.

This is something new and obviously is good fun for him (and for us). I guess it is a good thing for children to be doing this as they 'practice' as it were, being an adult. So i was wandering if there are ways to encourage this or should we just let our son do it himself.

Have others experienced this with their children?

Really cute! I love the photos.
My 3 year old is doing this, but to us, not his animals. He'll take a book and say he's going to read us a story and then he'll just make up a long story, pointing at the pictures. The story is not usually connected in any way to the pictures in the book, which makes it even funnier.
