What is the best and cheap hosting site for wordpress.org ?

I hope you can help me ! I'm on wordpress.com but I now need more and I like the idea of wordpress.org where you can use a lots of pluggins.

Best isn't the same as cheap. It can be. But, when it is, it's coincidence.

If you want hosting for a Wordpress site, you'll be looking for Linux hosting with at least one MySQL database.

It would be useful to stick to UK based hosting - for any number of reasons - not least of which are: search engines may be confused over your location and server maintenance is usually scheduled for late night/early morning local time.

If you set your budget at £10 per month, you should be able to find plenty of options around that mark.

It depends on other things you want from hosting. Like support vs price, do you really want UK based, how and when you contact support...

I've got couple of friends who ended up at hostgator. 1st ones struggled for couple of years with UK based hosting (got some advise from business adviser :) ) Then they signed on expensive marketing course and got different advise :). When 2d friend decided to move site to WP and started to have problems with support well, this friend asked around and the only answer was from 1st friend. All other peoples could not say a thing about their hostings...

On the internet people say good things about Blue hosting (from those who orient on WP) and it looks like it's UK one, but I don't know know anybody in person who host there...

However, as I said, you're totally free to decide on the basis of price and location - and, unless you're expecting serious amounts of traffic, all the web hosts will be much of a muchness. ;) lol x

I've just started using EUK hosting and they seem pretty good - support requests answered quickly, live chat available with techs. £18/quarter for hosting plus domain ownership. Only been with them two days so can't report back too much!

I have used TSOhost for a Few websites and they are cheap and very good quality with excellent customer service.

I used to use space provided by my ISP and when I moved away I had a similar dilemma to you. I use 5quidhost and very happy with them so just renewed for 5 years (they offer a small free package so you can test them first).

My two tips are to get a host who uses cpanel, it makes it so much easier to manage the space and to check the terms. I share photographs and video with my family using photogallery software and several hosting companies would not allow videos to be hosted.

As I only work on my website in the evenings when I email for help (as I'm new to this so frequently get stuck) they respond in minutes

I've used 1&1 for years and overall have found them to be good. A friend and I have recently tried Bluehost. My friend found their tech support to be poor and I don't like some aspects of the main control panel.

Essentially all the shared hosting plans are pretty much of a muchness. Nearly all of them use the cPanel control panel so if you did start with one webhosting company and then switched you'd probably find most of the tools and workflow to be exactly the same.

A search on Google will probably find an award of some sort for every major webhosting company. A search on forums will probably find someone somewhere slate every webhosting company as well...

I would recommend that you find some webhosting companies and then do some comparisons on:

yearly hosting costs
domain renewal costs
amount of space you get for your emails
Number of mysql databases so you can install WordPress
how many websites you can host
