I never had a birthday party as a child, and my 18th and 21st went by without as not a big deal, my 30th I was heavily pregnant and money very tight so not even a present, so as I approach my 40th. I want to do something memorable. Any ideas?

Have a pirate party and invite everyone you know.

Go abroad for a weekend, have a murder mystery party, hire a cottage and get your friends to stay, have a night out in London or try westfields casino great fun!

Nice meal with about 12 close friends, weekend away city break type thing or if you've got more money the ice hotel and to see the northern lights. Spa day or weekend with just girl friends!

Northern lights!! Oh yes!! Would love to see them!

I had a weekend in Prague with dh for my 40th. No parties or anything like that.

Would like a party, but can't be bothered to organised it all. Also think I would spend my time worrying if others were having a good time etc. Do fancy sometime away! If I can get childcare.
