My 20 month old is not talking a single word. She is just blabbering. She is not responding to her name . Not pointing things. She is using my fingers to point things. She is not weaving hand when we say bye. Internet checklists about autism scares me a lot.
some positive things about her is ,
She smiles at me. When her dad comes from work she opens her hands and ran to him and ask him to carry her. If I ask her to give hi5 she is doing that. If any of our friends try to carry her she is going to them without any fuss. She is dancing for rhymes while watching on tv. If I says the word come here she comes to me.

If she wants anything (for example if she want to increase the tv volume or wish to change rhymes or to show something in picture book)she comes nearer to me and pull my hands or dress to do that.

Spoke with HV. She referred audiologist. Next Monday going for that. Discussed with GP . GP asked me to wait till age 2. She did otoscope test and said hers hearing is fine.
Is anybody in same boat?

I don't know about autism but certainly for a non verbal child she is very able to get across to you her wants and needs, which is great.

Blabbering, tugging you to get attention, responding to requests like hi 5/come here, all seem like standard child stuff, so the speech thing would be the only thing bothering me. I would always say 'get hearing tested first' which is in progress. Once you've had the hearing test, the results will show what, if anything, needs to be put in place.

Have you thought about being referred to a speech and language therapist? (sometimes called SLT or SALT). The HV can help you to get a referral.
