Hello all

Fancy coming to a special bloggers' screening of InRealLife - a new film which focuses on the generation of kids who've grown up with a smart phone in their hand, connected to the world 24/7?

The screening will be introduced by the film's director, Beeban Kidron, who wrote the screenplay for Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit, and directed Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.

The film sounds really interesting: while adults panic about grooming and privacy, the documentary explores what it really means to be a child who is always 'on' and never alone - and to be increasingly bombarded by a world that usually has something to sell you, and appears to know you better than yourself.

Teens and preteens are at the most rapid stage of their development, but they have no experience of a world 'pre-web', and few tools with which to negotiate the overwhelming parade of opportunity (and potentially risk, and cost) that the internet delivers directly into their hands. Are we, as a society, conscious enough of what the internet is, and what its values are? Have we outsourced our kids to the net?

Interested? If you're able to come along to see the film at midday this Friday 13th Sept in central London, do email [email protected], including your blog URL in the email, and stick 'Mumset InRealLife' in the subject line.

We'd love to hear what you think afterwards - so if you attend, do remember to post a Mumsnet review, or blog your thoughts on your own site. Non-blogging MNers are also welcome, if you're happy to review the film over here!

Hi manuelb - no other screenings organised specifically for bloggers we're afraid, but the film is out nationwide this Friday and there are a number of showings across the country. More info here. Hope you manage to see it.
