Extension or move?

We stay in a really nice little residential area. The homes are lovely & our children play out all day long and are really safe. Our neighbours are all really nice too.
Once you come out of our area and up the road the areas not so nice.
Would you move so that around you is a nicer area.
We have a huge garden with scope to do an extension so next year we could increase the size of our house.
If we move to nicer area we won't be able to have a house as large as if we stay & do an extension.
Our children are settled and happy in good schools and nursery schools close to where we are.
What would you do?

I'd stay and extend, given that you've got the room, and the area is nice. Extending probably cheaper than moving, you can make it how you want, and increase resale value if you move on. Wish we had a bigger garden so we could do the same!
