Can you help me decide on a name for a bag shop?

I know what I want sort of, but I'm wondering it it needs modifying a bit. I'm well aware that once I've chosen it - I've chosen it LOL

Bags will be quirky, kitchsy, retro, rockabilly style. But some a little more mainstream. Not just handbags. Some totes, lunchbags etc.

What I was going to go for was The Quirky Little Bag Shop. I like 'quirky' and think it suits what I'm going for.

I'm not sure if thats too long - or does it sound fine? Should I call it a shop - or a company?
I will just be running it from folksy/etsy to start with.

The Quirky Bag Company?
The Quirky Bag Co.?
Quirky Bags?

I was looking at words other than 'quirky' but none of them seemed right. I liked 'curious' as well. and 'kooky' (but someone else has kookyhandbags on etsy)

In my opinion, using the word quirky negates the quirkiness iyswim.

What about something that suggests retro, but doesn't use such a specific adjective

Such as

the darling little bag shop
the delightful bag company

?

Beguiling Bags?

VelvetStrider · 16/07/2013 12:55

I think the word Emporium rather than Shop sounds more quirky and retro.

Bag is a bit of an ugly word - is there another word that means the same thing, generic and not specific types of bags?

I like emporium too - but to me it indicates somewhere that sells a wide range of stuff. Which I think is misleading.

I agree 'bag' is a bit of an ugly word. But I've been using the thesaurus and I cannot find another word that suggests to a buyer that I am selling 'bags' quite as well
I have been thinking about using the word 'carry' as another poster suggests - then I got into a 'carry on' loop and couldn't concentrate LOL

I like the word 'beguiling' - just not next to 'bags!'

Iirc there's already a quirky bags online.

If you want a name that'll be fashionable for all of 5 minutes then Totes Awesome [silly]

Or the handy baggage? Lends itself to a fun logo?

How about some play on the "Carry on...." theme.

What a carry on
Carry on regardless

Twitterqueen · 19/07/2013 09:32

Bag It!

PeterParkerSays · 19/07/2013 09:54

Don't know if you're allowed to use the name because of copyright but how about "Mary Poppins"? A bit bizaare but definiately has links with bags in people's minds, and conveys the feeling of retro / older style items.

Wishfulmakeupping · 19/07/2013 09:56

I like The Bag Lady suggestion

I agree you can't tell people you are quirky you have to show them by being quirky. Otherwise it's a bit sad
