Opinions about working hours, please?

I am having to go back to work full time, due to money reasons after having ds. At the moment I will be doing 5 days a week. There is a small chance, if I fight for it that I could so my full time hours over 3 or 4 days. Thus would save a huge amount on nursery fees, but I'm not sure if its worth time lost/gained with ds

At the moment I get to spend 1-2 hours with ds on the days I'm working.
If I did 3 days, I wouldn't see him on those days, as he would be asleep when I leave and come back. But I'd get 2 full days during the week with him
Over 4 days, I'd see him for 30 mins each day I was working, and gain a whole day with him.

I'm just not sure what to do for the best. If anyone has been in a similar position, I'd appreciate some advice. I just feel guilty that 5 days of the week, someone else will be looking after ds.

Who would see him on the days you worked a longer day? Would DH do dinner and bedtime? I think that makes a difference to me.

We're thinking through similar plans for next year and am interested in what people think, but my gut feeling is that a whole day with LO is worth more than a couple of bedtimes. As LO gets older, bedtime will get later too.

Yes, DH would do drop off and pick up from nursery, and would do bedtime etc.

I think two full days at home is worth it. Can you split your working days - maybe do mon/wed/fri so you only have a day at a time when you don't see them?

I'm hoping so. Just hope I can fight my corner at work Smile
