Nursery fees

I use salary sacrifice through work to pay for my daughters nursery fees but as the contract terminates in August I have to pay in full for Sept/Oct/Nov until I start work again in December. What sort of financial help is out there for me? The bill will cripple us but I can't remove her because I'll lose the place!

I would suggest you negotiate a temporary drop in your daughter's nursery hours, with the nursery school e.g. from full-time to part-time, until you resume employment.

If the nursery is attached to a private school, you may be able to contact the Bursar for consideration for temporary financial assistance.

Consider dropping some optional extras that you may have previously used, until you resume employment, e.g. wraparound care, school dinners (if you can save money with packed lunches), etc. These will not affect your daughter's school place.

Finally, if nothing else is applicable AND your daughter's school is some distance away from home, consider simply paying to keep her school place BUT keeping her at home for those 3 months to save on petrol costs, etc.

GL! x
