Camera for amazing baby photos?

Hi everyone! My son?s first birthday is coming up and I really want to take some amazing photos of him to keep this memory forever, but we have a regular camera. Has anyone had this issue before? Did you borrow from friends or rent from somewhere (where?) or just buy a camera?

Thanks!!

Good photos are often more about how you take them than what you take them with. That said, if a friend or family member can let you borrow a camera with a really good, big lens, fast processor and big memory chip, that will help. Also, here are a few things I'd recommend to help you take good pictures of children. First, get down to their level or lower (I often take a cushion so I can kneel) - a pic taken this way will be better. Secondly, be aware of where the light is - for instance, a window behind the child will put their face in darkness. And watch out for annoying things behind them - it's all too easy to take some lovely photos that are ruined by the messy/ugly background. Thirdly, take lots! The more pics you take, the more likely you are to get a few that are real keepers. Professional photographer will take hundreds and now that we all have digital cameras, we can too! Before the event, you could have a practice, trying different angles, different poses etc, just keep reviewing what you've taken so you notice your mistakes and can repeat the best shots. Hope this helps and that your son has a great 1st birthday!
