It is both normal and important to feel super buzzy about a new project - that initial rush of adrenaline will help you with all the hard grunt work, setting it up and blasting through the SEO and PR.
My 2nd blog is rather new and I haven't done much with it yet. My 1st blog is about knitting and crochet. It has evolved since I started it. I initially focused solely on knitting patterns - my own and other people's patterns.
However, I have since learnt to crochet and have decided to stop referencing other people's work to the same extent. After all, if people are stopping by MY blog then surely they are interested in MY work? ;) I have also widened my focus to include tangent topics, such as reviews (relevant to my topics) and crafts (incorporating my topics). So, yes, things have changed.
Initially, I wasn't as sure of where I was heading with my blog... but now I have a better handle on it and have a better focus and long-term plan.
Tbh, it still isn't as "polished" as I'd like. I've switched CMS from Blogger to WordPress and intend to refresh the design soon. I may reorganise the structure too. I've also started putting more effort into PR. (If that happens to you, the important thing to remember is: 301 redirects!! I'll need to update any links that I change, so I don't lose the benefit of previous spidering.)
Basically: yes, what you're asking is normal. Nobody is perfect. Keep trying and you will get there. Enjoy the journey and don't be upset if the road isn't straight. ;) x
