No offense intended to any Yorkshire folk on here Grin but my former boss who works for the NHS sent me this link :)

Am foreign myself but can proudly admit that I recognised most of the terminology Grin but there are some strange ones LOL

JackieNo · 18/05/2006 13:02

And lol at 'my husband/partner is good to me' meaning 'my husband/partner doesn't expect sex'Grin

dinosaure · 18/05/2006 13:04

boo - I can't open it!

SaintGeorge · 18/05/2006 13:05

I recognise most of them - but fancy missing out 'nesh'.

MrsBigD · 18/05/2006 22:49

I'm a Yorkshire girl but I must admit I've never heard of a "clacker" LOL, thats a new one on me!! The only clacker I know of was those two balls on a piece of string that you used to bang together but got banned in the 1970's because they were lethal!!

hulababy · 07/06/2006 23:01

I was a Doncaster girl till leaving for uni. Recognise most, although not all have to say. At work loads of the officers say "ay up"

fransmom · 13/06/2006 23:13

i can't open it either!

PMSL (southerner living in Yorks). I liked 'Barnsley/Rotherham playing at home', and the baby 'roaring'.

Dh insists that if he or his sisters were whinging when they were kids his mum would tell them to 'quit tha roo-ering, or ah'll give tha summat tah roo-er for' (i.e. shut up or I'll smack you).

No 'tootie' (tuttie?) for vagina though, whereas dh insists it's a Yorks expression.
