Mobile app time

When I'm on Facebook on my phone, even though I'm offline, friends tell me it has the little mobile sign next to my name in the chat box and how many minutes ago I last logged on. Is there any way to turn this off? I don't particularly want everyone knowing every single time I go on Facebook, this is why I permanently have chat turned off!

Is it the iPhone app? Go the the chat list on the right hand side, click the settings button (the spiky wheel thing in the top right hand corner) select 'Turn off chat'
