Me and my DH were talking today and were thinking about when DS goes to school and his and my work is not that flexible. I just wanted to know what people work hours, days etc and how they cover childcare for a child who goes to school 9-3pm. Ps me being a SAHM is not financially optional at min.
Can you share your routine?

Sounds like you need to look into breakfast and after school clubs and / or childminders.

Good luck! It's a mine field Ime!

My job is v flexible so I can work from home. As is my dh's. what we've done is sign up ASAP for afterschool club. Make friends with other parents to do a child swap. Sign him up for whatever activities there might be going on after school.

There are surprisingly plenty of parents who are sahp. Good luck.

Fwiw our schedule is
Monday we take another boy home with us
Tuesday he has tennis till 4.15
Wednesday he's in extended school till 6.
Thursday other child's mum takes our son
Friday I pick up.

Child minder also an option for drop off and pick up.

I drop every day and pick up twice. Child minder picks up x three. Sometimes useafter school club and breakfast club too if need be.

Childcare is a right patchwork; I couldn't hack it. Ended up being a SAHM instead.

Breakfast club or she goes to a friend in the morning for 8am (I return the fave adhoc for them when I am not working).

I have a child minder for after school (cannot get into ASC). Benefit of this means that the CM can help during holidays in inset days and she is really lovely. I am also trading days with others over the holidays.
Unless you work term time, don't forget about holidays and inset days.
