commuting

Has anyone moved further away from their husband's job to be near family and friends? I am very unhappy and don't want to have my first child in another city from friends and family, he's willing to commute but I still feel guilty even though I know I am just counting the days until we can move.

Yes. DHs commute went from 40 mins to 1 hour 20 mins, but mine reduced from 2 hours to 1 hour, but we were then 5 minutes away from my family - no support from his family.

It was very much worth it for us all.

Thanks for this advice. My DHs commute would go from 5 mins to 1 hr-1hr15 mins. I would still be an hour or so from family but everyone would be and feel much closer. Glad to hear you say it was worth it. His family are abroad and mine are quite elderly so I'd like to be near them - particularly now i'm thinking about first child. Feel v isolated and cut off where I am. Thanks for reply - much appreciated.
