Any bad experiences with 'you might also like' widget?

Just wondering whether to include the LinkWithin 'you might also like' widget on my new blog. I read somewhere that it might actually have an adverse effect on SEO because of the way it redirects traffic through the LinkWithin site. I have no idea if this is true or not (it may well be rubbish) so would be interested to hear what others think/know...

I don't know about SEO but I use Nrelate Flyout and I do think it keeps readers on the blog.

MerryLindor - oh yes, it seems to be the same kind of thing. So it's pretty good then? Right, might give it (or similar) a go. Thanks for being helpful again!

MerryLindor Can I ask you why it keeps readers on the blog? i've just downloaded the plugin but can't for life of me see what it does!!!! I'm very dumb on these type of matters so please explain in kiddies English :)

pebbles77 i think the idea is that it just kind of flags up other posts the reader might be interested in, so they then click to have a read and end up exploring the blog a bit more. But i'm new to this game so waddoiknow!

Yes, it seeks other blog posts on similar topics. So if you read a post on my blog about Kenya, like this one about FGM then it shoots out at the bottom of the blog post and suggests other posts that the reader might enjoy.

I think it is mainly due to the categories and tags used.

Ooooo I like the idea of that, thanks for explaining

I use Contextual Related Posts (yes, snappy name) which does a similar thing. It does keep people on the blog, (also stops older posts getting lost in the mists of time), and I noticed a jump in subscriptions after I installed it.

Sounds good - thanks for the info. I'll try one of them out (when i've actually written enough posts to make it worthwhile!)
