About wrong medical information?

Dd's 'review' letter came today to summarise all tht was spoken about at last appointment. As usual it was full of wrong information and not what we had discussed! Already in touch with PALs to change doctor but this is step too far. Considering copying it and sending it back to the doctor with all the wrong information in it! Wwyd?

If it really is vastly different to what was discussed then complain to a higher authority... whatever that may be.

your idea of copying and correctingn it would be a very good first step. and ask them to send out corrected version, if copies were going to other people

Copies went to dd'd new gp ( so this is the first he will read of her condition) as well genetics clinic and varies other support people. It was as far as to say that she was
Doing very well on her new ventilator with very few drops in oxygen level when Infact she ended up needin oxygen one night which is a last resort to keep her stable!

Oh God, I had this when I saw consultant during pregnancy. I had a letter telling me my gran had died of a DVT ten years previously. Slightly surprising given that she'd been quite well the week before.

I'd send back with corrections and make an appointment with the GP to explain what it should say. A follow up letter from your GP might carry more weight.

mummydarkling · 29/11/2012 22:49

yes this is so important that I would write a list of corrections and send to all who were copied in on the original letter. Is it possible your dd's history has been mixed up with that of another patient?

piglettsmummy · 30/11/2012 17:16

mummydarkin no as she is very unique case! I have sent th letter back to
The hospital with higlighted info and a
Correction writing within a letter x
