Now's around the point in the year when women effectively stop earning, thanks to the pay gap - and people are taking to Twitter to complain about it with the hashtag #equalpayday. Meanwhile, research published this week reveals that women executives in the UK earn around £10,000 less than men in the same job.

What do you think - as one Mumsnet blogger put it, is having a penis really worth £10,000 a year? And why do mums take huge pay cuts when they return to the workforce post-pregnancy, asks blogger Ruth.
