Unique Users

I use wordpress.com and I wondered if there's any way of finding out how many unique users I have rather than hits?

Hmm I haven't used wordpress stats (that's if such a thing exists).

If you do have a stats package, the number you want is 'sessions'. The number of unique sessions you've had is the number of individual users you've had. Hits represents how many page requests there have been, and one user can make multiple page requests.
