Train or car to funeral - sorry, trivial but not to me

Hello there, I have to go to uncle's funeral in Leeds tomorrow, travelling from Liverpool. The train has engineering works and so the door-to-door journey that way would be about 3 hours and means leaving home at 7am. The upside is that I'd get a chance to see my mum on her own, because she will also be getting train so we'll get a taxi to the do together. The door-to-door with a car would be about 1 hour 40-2 hours I think, but on M62 so lots of chance for congestion - plus my mum, whose brother we're burying, worries when I'm driving. I can't believe I'm asking this, but what would you do? Got stinking cold, really tired, can't really think this through.

I would drive, but that is just me. I cannot abide public transport, it always let's me down.
