child road safety

It appears that children injuries are on the rise and feel we need to do more to raise the importance of education both via government but also as parents. Teaching children to cross roads was taught to us, but it is lacking today as is getting children safely on their bikes. The push is to get them walking and cycling but safety needs to come first.

You do realise that you have posted this in Blogger's Network, don't you? You would get more response in parenting, or chat.

Are you trying to start a campaign? It is not really clear what you want to achieve.

IMO we should get the police out once a month to patrol the school crossings and fine any driver who doesn't stop for the lollipop man or woman.

Don't most parents teach their kids to cross the road though?

Yes there is a problem with road safety education across the education system.
!! - 18 year olds are not required to receive any formal road safety education!!
The figures for 2011 (last available) showed an increase, the first for several years.
Having lost a son in a car driven by a newly qualified driver I know, al to well, the pain and suffering caused.
After much research I have started a competition across England for 11 - 18 year olds. They can signup to develop their own project and are linked to the BBC Local Radio station area. The winners go forward to the final.

Any questions please contact me via website.
Remember please do drive safely and speed really does kill!!!
