Hi ladies,
I'm new here so please excuse me if I rant on (sorry). My parter has just got a new job which he starts next month in the centre of London. We will be relocoating from east yorkshire with our 5 & 7 year old, plus baby who is 10 months. I'm giving up good schools friends and family to move so am a tad anxious to be honest.
We are looking to rent a 3 bed property for about 1350 per month in beckenham, I hace never visited Beckenham/ Bromley area, so I'm clueless! :( could anyone give me any advice of areas to avoid! And also the schools? I read the Alexandra infant school ofstead report which was outstanding! :) and this is 0.4 miles from the house we are looking to rent do you think I'd be able to get my 5 & 7 year old into this school?

Any advice would be brilliant!
Thanks for your time xXx

What I'd do is... post this on the property forum (in mumsnet homes & gardens) for advice about the area and in the primary education forum to ask about schools. You should get some great advice in those places, and also by searching for relevant thread in Talk as there have been lots about that area in particular.

I'm in south-east London and looked at Beckenham and Bromley before ultimately moving to Crystal Palace. B and B felt that bit too far out for me and less Londony, but that may well not be a problem for you. Some people rave about it. What I would say is that 0.4 miles often isn't close enough to get in a school down here so be very very careful about checking on distances/school places before you choose your property. You should be able to get all the info from the LA schools admissions team. Good lick!

PS: if memory serves, Balgowan and Marian Vian (sp?) primary schools had the best reputations so worth seeing if you can find a property on their doorstep!
