Facebook sales

I keep hearing about local groups where you can buy and sell... However I seemed to have inadvertently joined a group with members all over the country. Do local ones exist and where are they?

I've only found them recently by searching for my local area name and buy, so say Cheadle buy for example and a few options should pop up.

I found most groups in my area wouldn't accept me, although I have no idea why. I am only a member of one in my area.
