Would you call the police? (long)

Or am I being ridiculous and wasting their time?

We live in the grounds of a stately home, quite isolated surrounded by woodland. Our driveway is about a third of a mile long and has electric gates where the driveway joins the road and then also electric gates up near the house. the gates near to the road are broken and are going to cost about a grand to fix and so it is marked down as a low priority job which will get done eventually.
About six months ago a neighbour came up to the house and told me there were youths hanging around on foot up close to the house (this was before gates were broken). Police came out with dogs since I was on my own late at night with two small DCs. They tracked the youths who had also been looking around other properties and arrested them on drugs charges. Two weeks ago the police arrested another group using needles just inside the broken gates by the road.
This afternoon I heard car noises (DH not expected back for hours) and watched out of the window as two cars went past the house three times and then stopped. I went out and asked them what they were doing and told them they were on private property. There were two in each car mid to late twenties in baseball caps and hoodies. Posh cars. One spoke out of the window and said he had been going to buy the house recently. We have been here for three years. I told him the land is private and he asked whether the gates are being fixed and then they drove off down the driveway.

I'm now a bit freaked out and am feeling a bit vulnerable here on my own with the kids. Am I just being silly or should I call the police?

Should also add that the clutch has gone on my car and DH has the other so we are also stranded here.

No unfortunately not so it feels a bit pointless calling the police. I just feel quite unnerved by it.

Did you note down a reg, make or model of the car?

I would make a call to the non emergency number.

Call on the non emergency number. Ask for someone on the local neighbourhood team to come out and talk to you as you seem to be having some ongoing problems.

I've called them and they are going to drive by a few times this evening and have said to call straight away if I see them again.

Feel like a bit of a target which is ridiculous really, if they only knew that although the house looks big and expensive, it's actually full of junk that isn't worth having!
