Abandoned kitten in garden, please help!

i originally posted in the litter tray but have decided to post here also due to the traffic, i really need some help.....

For just over a week there has been a kitten in our garden, looking very sorry for itself, it was shivering & looked very bedraggled! I set up a lil cat box with towels in & fed it, it has not moved from our garden now for 3 days, gets out of the box for toileting & goes back inside again, I have called RSPCA, Blue X, Cats protection & animals in distress, the bottom line is nobody can help, the cat has been put on a few missing lists, but other than that there is little anybody is willing/able to do, I feel so frustrated with this, i was really hoping one of these charities would help, I do not know what the next step is, i cannot have it inside, already have one cat, two toddlers & a very ill father, i cannot cope with another cat, but i can't just ignore it out there!!....Any ideas as what to do next?!...

& before you flame me , i have already been had a go at by the RSPCA for feeding it, i know it was "the wrong" thing to do, but he looked so scared & hungry!

Awww Sad

wow I admire your willpower. I barely have the strength to keep our neighbour's excessively cute cat from following me through the front door.

Surprised that the RSPCA had a go, what was their rationale? I could understand if they thought it had just arrived and you feeding it would tempt it away from home, but surely that wouldn't apply after 3 days??

Nothing helpful to add but good luck with the rehoming Grin

Awww. Another abandoned kitten/cat thread. I am too far away and Sparkling Cat and DH wouldn't allow it but I hope you find a home.

queenofthepirates & discobeads

Do you really want "him" ? that would be wonderful, i have him outside in a cat box with towels & food so i am looking after him as best i can, if one of you will take him that would be amazing!!

I do not actually know if he is a boy or girl & cannot be older than a year!

As for the RSPCA the man asked if i had fed him yet when i said yes his exact words were "well that was a damm stupid thing to do" giving him a free ride will never make him go home, but by this point he had been around for a few days & i had to do something! I really would take him in if i could but difficult circumstances!

I have an old poorly cat, an old, loving dog (who would love a kitten) as well as other animals (and an unimpressed husband)

I have one child and another on its way!

I definitely want him, but I do think that queenofthepirates sounds more ready for a kitten iyswim - though if she can't take him i'll work on DH....or let dd work on him Grin

how big is he? what does he look like?

MooMa42o · 08/08/2012 09:58

He has a kitten face, he is small, but not cute fluffy kitten size, don't know how old he is but would say he is not older than a year, He is black with a white bib & white socks. He is looking much better than when he first arrived, less bedraggled. I really want to be able to give him a good home, but i do not want it to cause problems for you! :)

ohhh he sounds adorable Grin is he friendly? I am guessing so if he lets you feed him etc.

DH has said no, but wll...no does not always mean no does it? Grin

queenofthepirates are you aking him? I am going away tomorrow for 4 days and would love to know one way or the other before I go.

MooMa42o · 08/08/2012 19:23

queenofthepirates has not got back to me yet, not sure.

He lets me feed him & stroke his head, but when i went down his back he growled at me, so i am working in it, i am trying to be affectionate without falling for him....He does look adorable!

I considered it, but I have dd (aged 5) with me all the time at the moment, and won't be able to get away with "we just found him" Grin

Has anyone sent queenofthepirates a PM? Maybe she just hasn't seen the thread?
Discobeads if not you should work on DH... or just collect kitten, which will automatically choose DH as favourite person if he didn't want it and hope he falls in love...
MooMa please keep feeding/loving in the meantime...

MooMa42o · 09/08/2012 10:11

Have done, unfortunately she is too far away, I am still feeding him, but he doesn't leave the box very much!

Have asked a few friends who live on a farm, hoping this comes up trumps...

Anymore takers in the devon area would be much appreciated!

Discobeads is your DH softening up yet?

stinkyfluffycat · 09/08/2012 10:51

I may be being technologically inept, but I can't click on your profile?

MooMa42o · 09/08/2012 10:59

stinkyflufflycat i think i have fixed it, would you mind trying again & letting me know if it's working now, thank you

stinkyfluffycat · 09/08/2012 12:59

Yes, it's working now! Soooo cute! I would have him myself if my two fat furballs wouldn't leave home... Discobeads did say she was going away, hopefully when she's back she'll need a kitten!
