Hi,
My first venture into blogging (ooh at least a whole 8 weeks ago) was called Wish you Weren't Here. A blog about the miserable time we had in Torquay due to horrendous storms. We spent out, had a crap time and it was depressing.

We are supposed to be going to Cornwall next Sat and I gather this weather will remain. If we go, and the weather dominates, it could cost us about £1500 all in. If we stay, we lose £50 deposit on the cottage. The boys are excited, but it was sad seeing them inside the whole time we were in Torquay (if you think I am exaggerating, please do read the blog). My brother is going to Cornwall at the same time, but he has just bought a place and I think he understands if we cancel.

So what would you do?

I'd stay, and spend some of the money on local fun stuff indoors, stuff to do at home.

Put the majority towards another holiday when there is a break in weather? Or a deposit to go abroad in oct half term?

Its a hard one as whilst its great to go on holiday its also awful if you can't get outside at all - especially with kids!

I'm not sure where you will be in Cornwall but you could have a look at what indoor activities there are down there so you have some options if it rains. The Eden Project is quite good for a rainy day (well it rained when we went there!) as the domes are all covered.

Is the weather bad for the whole week or are there some nice days? We went down in June and had 2 rainy days but the rest were ok. I did find that the kids didn't mind the rain as much as us so we all donned our kagouls and went out even when it rained.

Its such a shame the weather has been so bad this year. I think alot of people's uk hols have been spoilt. Sad

Why are such a lot of people so pathetic about rain? It's only a bit of water! Put your coat and wellies on, go out and have some fun. It's your holiday ffs!!! Grin

still undecided.... It's the financial side mainly. unfortunately it was hardly a bit of rain when the gale forces Trashed Torquay in June. The kids simply could not walk in the 70mph gusts. I think I will push it a couple more days and then decide. Thanks All x
