We hope you've got through the first week of the school hols with as much calm and serenity as you can muster! On which note, our blog-prompt this week is 'School summer holidays: too blimmin' long or too bleedin' short?'
If you're looking for food for thought, this might be interesting. Pointing to evidence that children from poorer families fall behind over the school holidays while their middle-class peers benefit from holidays and museum trips, the author suggests that the summer holidays should be much shorter. What do you think?
Or perhaps you are struggling to juggle work and childcare over the lo-o-ong school hols - and think there must be a better way to organise the school calendar. Year-round schools exist in the US, with families able to take their holidays much more flexibly - could it work here?
Don't feel that you have to stick to these topics though - any and all summer hols-related posts are very welcome! We'll be picking out a few to feature next week, so do let us know here on the thread if you've blogged; if you can't quite manage it but have something to say, tell us what you think here on the thread.
