Children's pictures?

I see that a lot of blogs use pictures of their children, which I feel really adds a nice personal touch. I would like to do the same, not just for the blog but because it is a way that I can ensure those videos and pictures will not get lost on a broken DVD or computer. Also, I really would like to put a particular video with a post. However, as of yet, I have been hesitant to do so because of all the awful stories that you hear about. However, my friend posts her pictures and says that she has never had an issue. Has anyone else had any issues?

What do you mean by awful stories?

I don't put any picks of my kids (well their faces) on my blog as they might not want pictures of themselves kicking around the Internet forever.

Put pictures, don't put pictures, it's up to you. But don't not do it because of some supposed 'awful stories'.

I've never heard of any 'awful stories'.

What awful stories are you talking about?

I do not see the danger, personally, of photos . When my DS goes out into town on a busy Saturday far more people see him and what he looks like, what's the difference between that and the internet?

My blog is quite anonymous. I use a made up name and don't refer to DS by his name.

He's at the park right now, on his own, that makes me far more nervous than the fact that his pictures are on the internet.

By the way, the description "awful stories" was probably a bit harsh.

I'm very conflicted on the subject to. I put pictures of my daughter as she is only a toddler and I know she'll change a lot in the years. I blog anonymously too to protect her a bit further too.
We live in London where we are statistically 'on camera' 300 times A DAY! Shops, streets, busses, you name it, so I think our kids might grow up giving for granted that they are being snapped at all times...
I would just say, do what feels right for you and forget the awful stories.

In the past I've used photos of my twinkles, Spud and Sprout in my blog posts. I haven't used any recently due to the fact that when I was looking at the audience stats for my blog. Someone had keyword searched 'blonde toddler boy, big blue eyes' and obviously my blog had come up in their search which completely freaked me out and I find it very disturbing that someone would look at my family photos in that way.

I read a blog recently where the blogger was totally freaked out by a search term that had led a viewer to her blog. She didn't say what it was, but it was enough for her to consider stopping blogging. She carried on, but has removed all photos of her DC from her blog.

I also think the same as DillyTante. While you might be happy to have your photos and your memories on your blog, your children when they are older may not feel the same way.

It is easy to do when you have toddlers, but when your children are older, you do think more about their privacy.

I don't blog much about my DC any more, but when I do I include pics, I ensure that they are not identifiable. Either a pic from behind, or a detail pic such as their hands, or their feet.
