Hi im a single mum yet again. I have an almost 14 yr old dd a 10 yr ds 8yr ds 6 yr dd. What is the legal age to allow her to babysit for an hour or 2 and im no more than a 15 minute drive away?

My ex wont have the kids at all not even for visitation .My mother lives 60 miles away and we are not close and she would look after kids at my home if i want to go away over night but seems a bit much to call her up for couple of hours as and when i get a date.

If the general vote is a no then i wont but im new to this and i know she can cope and they would be safe i just want to know that this is ok.

May never get a date again so may be a pointless question but you never know!

As lots will probably say, it depends on how sensible your 14yo is and how well behaved your other dc's are. I babysit three under 7's every weekend overnight at age 14 and I/they were fine.
Good luck with the dating.

She is more than capable and i wouldnt go out until the younger ones were asleep . I was more worried about the legalities of it. Is there a legal age?

Dating again is more scary than at least if you went swimming with sharks you know what they want.

My exbf and i spilt because i wouldnt let him move in as his condition was he had to go on the mortgage if he did.

But thankyou for the reply

I think 14 is quite normal to babysit, particularly in the family. Good luck!
