Best blog site for a new blogger?

Hi all
I want to start a blog to keep my friends and family up to date with my sons progress when he's in hospital later this year and also to help other parents who's children share his fairly rare condition.
My question is this what blog site should I use? I would often be updating using my phone so would like a site that's easy to use on a small screen and/or has an app (iPhone) can anyone point me in the right direction?

wordpress.com is good - there's a facility to email new posts in, by setting up a special address, so if you can type an email on your phone, that's all you need to do. I've managed to file a post from a moving camper van before now (though not while driving, I hasten to add!!) You can do much more with it, I reckon, than with Blogger - and it's free to use unless you want to do something really fancy with it. (I started out on Blogger and defected to Wordpress so am biased!)

Wordpress. There is an app for iPhone you can use and I find it much more user friendly than Blogger.
