This is the first time I've posted so please forgive me if it isn't in the right place.
My seven month old DD is weaning at the moment and is on a completely dairy free diet because of a severe cows milk protein allergy. She can't have soya either because she reacts to that also.
My husband and I are obviously trying to give her healthy meals based as much as possible on what we eat. One area we're struggling with is gravy as so many gravy granules and even stock pots and cubes either contain milk, milk products or soya and quite often contain a lot of salt.
Today in sainsburys I bought a baby Heinz chicken gravy with no soya or milk products. As I was putting it away this evening I noticed that the best before date on it was September 2011!
What are the chances that my or anyone else's child would have been sick had they eaten it?
I feel quite upset at the thought that I could have fed her this without realising.
Obviously I need to return it to the store so they can clear any others they may have but should I also write to complain and who to?
Sainsburys? Or someone else?
Does anyone have experience of this type of thing?
