dd sent home from school with no knickers

I am not one to complain for no reason, but today my dd was sent home with no knickers on.
She had gone swimming at 12 with the school , when she had gone to get dressed after swimming, she had found her knickers were missing from the locker-she thinks she dropped them.
She told the teacher, the teacher laughed at her and left her to continue the rest of the day wearing no knickers!
Imo the school should have phoned me to bring some in for her to wear but they didn't think to tell me, so she has gone half a day with none on.
Wwyd? I don't want to feel silly complaining but its a cold outside today and i don't like the thought my daughter walked around half the day feeling silly

Fair enough pumpkin, sorry I got on my high horse a bit there. Part of the reason teachers are reluctant to do extra activities with children, much as they might like to, is the danger that if everything doesn't go absolutely perfectly (which it rarely does with children) then there will be complaints. When you've put effort into bringing children out and giving them a nice time away from the classroom and then all you get is complaints you start to wonder why you bother.

Most people haven't had their children come home pantless. I'd rather my kids came home with no knicks that communal school ones. I'd rather not be bothered with a request to bring pants to school because my child had been a bit careless and lost theirs.

They did you a favour by not making a big deal of it.

Glad you have taken the advice on board and are not complaining. Do you know for definite that she wasn't offered spare knickers and declined them?

I doubt the teacher thought you would appreciate a phone call, possibly at work, expecting you to supply new knickers. As she was wearing trousers, it's a bit of a non-issue. (If she was wearing a skirt, she could have put her PE shorts on under her skirt or changed into her outdoor PE trousers.)

Going forward, it's not a bad idea to have a spare pair of knickers in her PE bag. Then she could have dealt with this issue (or similar if she ever needs clean underwear) without having to ask.

zombie thread from 2012 !
Her daughter will be 16 now so hopefully she's sorted her knicker problem out Grin
