Weekend break with 2 boys - on a budget

WWYD? Two boys - 6 and 5 - I want to have some quality time away with my boys and have discounted Edinburgh (too close to family and first weekend of Scottish school hols) and Legoland Windsor (one to do with Daddy too).

Any other suggestions? eg Lake district - am clueless - are there any particular places to go to with boys and bikes? I haven't ruled out camping but would prefer a B&B... center parcs has actually crossed my mind more than once, but it's so expensive.

Clearly I have lost my marbles and should probably stay at home.

Digger land and a travel lodge. If you've got tesco vouchers you can use them for digger land.

Whereabouts do you live? If you're near Norfolk (which I'm guessing you might not be...) I'd recommend Bewilderwood.

What do you like to do on a trip? Relax or active?

Seafront Travelodge in Bournemouth.

Oceanarium if wet, Crazy Golf if not, great town centre, rides on beach, beach, lovely restaurants, walk through gardens.

Look up vouchers to eat out before you go.

Try YHA, can get a family room often ensuite, most have kitchens where you can cook your own food to keep costs down. Good because there are often other families to mix with if you want.
