This is advance information for all bloggers

Join in the Blog Hop on TUES 19th June 2012

Help raise awareness of the 20 million+ women in developing countries who wish to use modern family planning methods, but cannot access them.

The effects of this are far reaching and devastating, not only for the women and their families, but also for the countries in which they live.

Unwanted pregnancies, unsafe abortions, still births ? and over 250,000 maternal deaths yearly

I will be blogging from Africa, on a trip organised by IRP, the Dfid and the Gates Foundation. We will visit families who are affected by the lack of family planning services, and report back on what we find there.

We need bloggers back in UK to help us raise awareness of this issue. Please pass this on to other bloggers.

More than happy to join in a vital cause.

Can't post on your blog- so will post here what I thought about your post: It's shocking that in this day in age where technological advances are what they are that Women are still experiencing this.
I truly believe that if we examine how Women are treated in a society only than can we see how advanced that society is.

I feel extremely lucky to be born and raised in the UK where I can freely access contraception and excellent child birthing facilities compared to developing countries.

There was a doumentry on the BBC last year where professioanls from the UK traveled to other parts of the World to carry out their profession, and a UK midwife traveled to a country in Africa and goodness the lack of care and provisions from emotional support to medical care was shocking for not only the midwife but also myself.

I would like to ask after awareness has been raised what else will be done?

BFE
I have added the information about the Family Planning Summit that is being organised by the Dfid and Gates Foundation.

This is the Dfid's main project this year so will be a big push to get this noticed.

Thanks S&E.

I feel very strongly on this subject and find it baffling to why the partichary(sp) have the need to control womens bodies, from female mutilation to the Church opposing contraception to some USA senators wanting ban abortion.

Makes my blood boil...

I really do hope the Dfid and Gates Foundation can make a difference.

Hope so too. Too long has this topic been ignored, when it is a relatively simple method of improving lives of many

Not long now till I leave for Africa. I have been thinking about what is to come, and how to blog about Kenya without being patronising.

Africa Without Pity

If you are intending to blog, could you give me a shout.

This will be the campaign of the week, and will get massive amounts of publicity (I hope) sou would be good to get as many of you on board as possible.
